It's been two years already. We're working hard on our projects and hoping to do the best we can to bring you good anime with high quality.
C-o-r-E's IRC Tutorial:
C-o-r-E's IRC Tutorial Well after helping a bunch of people who join #iy4ever-fansubs on IRC and start asking for help like: <N00b-sama> How do I download stuff? I'm new and I don't know what to do... I decided to make this little tutorial to get the peeps up to par. IRC is our preferred means of communication here at IY-F, It is essentially a powerful chat program that we use to work together and to speak with our public. We also have xdcc bots set up to serve files over IRC and we allow people(like you) to set up their personal file servers(fserv) to share their anime files too. We encourage you to come and join us on IRC because that is where the action is. You can join the official distro team if you have a broadband connection if you do join us on IRC. IRC is a network of chat rooms called channels. These channels are represented by the # sign. The official IRC channel for IY-F is #iy4ever-fansubs and is located on the Rizon IRC network [irc.rizon.net]. The tutorial below will explain how to get connected to Rizon and join our IRC channel using mIRC. It also covers downloading files from an fserv or an xdcc bot. Set-up I'm going to skip the installation the stuff before this because its really not that difficult. Once you have successfully installed your mIRC based client and you run it for the first time a dialogue box should pop up. That box should be the options dialogue box. If for some reason that the dialogue box isn'tyou can get to it by pressing Alt + O or going to the tools menu and selecting options.
Here, under the connect tab, you need to fill out some information. As for your name and email just put some fake crap in there. Your Nickname is what other users will see when you send a message to a channel. Try to use a unique nickname because two nicks can't exist on the same server at the same time.
Once that is done, go ahead and select Servers in the category box under Connect.
All that needs to be done here is to select Rizon from the IRC Network drop down box.
If you want to be able to receive files from bots or just other users you should turn off the ignore setting. You can do this by selecting Ignore under DCC in the category box. For method select disable and uncheck the box that says "Turn ignore back on in:" For additional options for how mIRC handles file transfers, you can select the options or folders category under DCC.
After clicking OK to exit the options dialogue box, you are now ready to connect to IRC. Click the connect button(as seen above) to connect to Rizon.
The mIRC Favorites dialogue(above) box should appear once you have connected to Rizon. If it hasn't you canit by either clicking the third icon from the left on the toolbar or by clicking the Organize favorites under the Favorites menu. To join the official IY-F IRC channel just type #iy4ever-fansubs in the text box at the top and click the join button next to it. You could just leave out the # sign because mIRC will put it in for you. Congratulations! Your in! Welcome to IY4ever fansubs. The window that appears is the interface for our channel, at the bottom of the window there is a text box for sending messages to the channel or typing in commands. On the right hand side of the window, there is a list of users in the channel. The users with an @ sign in front of their names are Ops. Ops are senior members of the group and have the power to kick or ban delinquent users. The users with a % sign next to their name are HalfOps. HalfOps are either IY-F staff who have basically the same power as Ops or or xdcc bots who's sole purpose is to distribute IY-F releases. xdcc bots Upscale Illinois Matchmaking - Chicago Matchmaking - Illinois. xdcc bots are unmanned computers running scripts that respond to specific commands and send IY-F releases to the person who requested it. The concept is simple, Users who's names begin with %IY-F are xdcc bots. Occasionally they will advertise themselves automatically. They display the number of transfers that they are doing at the moment and the number of available transfers or slots. They also display either the command to get a listing of their packs(files) or the command to have a pack sent to you. Commands in mIRC follow a / by default. For an example of a command for a pack listing would be " /msg IY-F|bLu xdcc list". This command will make IY-F|bLu message you with the list of packs available for download. If you type !botS in our channel you will be messaged with the web address of an up-to-date full bot and pack list. Once you know the pack that you want to download you just look at the command for that specific bot to send a pack. Example(above) if you wanted to get a specific file from IY-F|Negima. The file that you want is pack #1. You then look to see the command to get a file from the bot. You type that command in on the bar at the bottom and replace the x with the pack that you waned, in this case #1.
If everything went well, you should be prompted with the above dialogue. Be quick to accept it because the send will timeout in a few moments.
When you see the above dialogue, you are receiving the file at least if the numbers are changing. Fserv The Fserv can be a confusing and complicated thing to some people, For the moment I completed the text in this section but here is a screen shot to help out for now...
